Josh is a lifelong artist residing in Denver, CO. After a successful career in math and technology, he began tattooing in 2022 bringing together his love of drawing, problem-solving, and personal tattoo collecting to the table.

My Approach to Tattooing

For me, tattooing is about taking an idea and turning it into something that feels like it has always belonged on someone’s body. I work closely with each client to understand their vision, then build a design to naturally flow with the body. Placement, flow, and efficiency are all kept in mind while designing for clients.

My work spans several styles, including American Traditional, black and grey, blackwork, psychedelic, anime, neo-traditional, and illustrative tattooing. While each style has its own foundation and visual language, I enjoy finding ways to incorporate my own influences and ideas into every piece.

My Artistic Background

What was once an outlet from the highly technical day-to-day of my STEM background has built an excellent foundation for my understand of light, shadow, value, and overall approach to tattooing.

My background in math and technology has also shaped the way I think about art. I enjoy the problem-solving side of tattooing just as much as the creative side. Understand the technical application of the ink I’m using, adjusting how I work with different types of skin, figuring out how a design will translate and move with the body, and how different elements can work together as a cohesive composition.

Tattooing gives me the opportunity to combine all of those interests into one medium.

Styles & Inspiration

I take inspiration from a wide range of artists, artwork, and visual styles. American Traditional has been particularly influential in my approach, giving me a strong foundation in bold linework, composition, color, and timeless tattoo design. I also have a deep appreciation for black and grey, where subtle values and contrast can create anything from soft and delicate imagery to dark and gritty pieces.

Psychedelic work gives me room to experiment with movement, color, and energy. I have a particular fondness for pink and teal, and I enjoy creating flowing shapes and psychedelic elements that follow the natural movement of the body.

Anime is another major source of inspiration. Some of my favorite series include Hunter x Hunter, Fullmetal Alchemist, Demon Slayer, and My Hero Academia. I enjoy taking the characters and imagery I love and translating them into tattoos while adding my own artistic perspective.

The Tattoo Experience

Getting a tattoo should feel collaborative, comfortable, and personal. I want my clients to feel heard throughout the process, from the initial idea and design discussion through the finished tattoo.

Whether you're getting your first tattoo or adding to an existing collection, I take the time to understand what you're looking for and make sure you feel informed and comfortable throughout the session. My goal is not only to create a tattoo I'm proud of, but one that genuinely feels like it’s yours.

Outside the Studio

When I'm not tattooing, I spend a lot of my time drawing, lifting weights, watching anime, and exploring the mountains. I'm particularly fond of wolves, and I enjoy being around the outdoors whenever I get the chance.

A lot of the things I enjoy outside of tattooing find their way back into my creative work. Drawing keeps me practicing, anime continues to inspire me, and spending time in the mountains gives me a chance to step away from the studio and recharge.
